Who Are the Intended Audiences of the LxD Primer?
Part of the reason I’m designing the LxD Primer as a hybrid course-book expanding over time is that I want the experience to be applicable to as many intended audiences as possible. Over time, the LxD Primer is intended to support the needs of each of the following audiences:
- Current and future learning experience designers (including undergraduate and graduate students)
- Traditional stakeholders making decisions about designing and developing learning systems and experiences (such as L&D Directors within corporations)
- Teachers
- Assessors
- Implementers
- Evaluators
- Researchers
- Subject Matter Experts
- Non-traditional stakeholders who will have a newfound appreciation for what learning experiences are and how they relate to human civilization.
You may be wondering why I’ve differentiated between assessors, implementers, evaluators, and researchers as separate audiences. Hopefully this differentiation will become quite clear as you continue with the LxD Primer course. Briefly, though, there are differences in the specifics of each of these roles that means it is possible for a person to contribute to any one of these roles without contributing to the others, which means that each is a distinct audience of learners within the purview of LxD.
In your own experience, which of these intended audiences have you been a part of so far?
